Jewel Changi staff receive donuts as encouragement

Posted on October 28, 2021 by T Natasha

It goes without saying that our retail sector and staff have been hit hard by Covid-19. Following announcements that the Stabilisation Phase will be extended till 21 Nov, it’s understandable that some businesses will feel a little frustrated. Nevertheless, the fact that Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) are open with more countries should bring some much-needed encouragement to the retail sector.

To top that off, we found out that a lovely Member of Parliament (MP) from the Pasir-ris Punggol GRC, Ms Yeo Wan Ling, has been giving out donuts to the staff at Jewel Changi Singapore.

“How are you? donuts” given to Jewel Changi’s staff

Footwear retailer PAZZION Group, shared in their recent Facebook post that it was a heartwarming session with Ms Yeo Wan Ling and her team from NTUC U SME. They thanked Ms Yeo and the team for the encouragement, noting that the staff was “delighted” to have received the “How Are You Donuts” during a challenging time.

In her Facebook post, Ms Yeo also shared a video of the team packing and distributing the donuts. In the video, the team members also gave a shoutout of encouragement to the staff working in Jewel Changi. Apart from handing out donuts to retail staff, they also gave them out to frontline workers like cleaners and service staff. The masks couldn’t hide the delight of the recipients’ faces as they received the boxes of donuts!

$640 million support package for businesses affected by Covid-19 restrictions

Apart from the “How are you?” donuts to cheer our retail staff, the Government will also be giving a $640 million support package to affected businesses.

Given the extended restrictions till 21 Nov, the Government will continue the Jobs Support Scheme at 25 per cent wage support for sectors significantly affected by the tightened measures.

These include F&B, retail, cinemas, museums and art galleries, family entertainment, tourism, gyms and fitness studios, as well as performing arts and arts education. A two-week rental waiver will also be given to qualifying tenants on government-owned commercial properties.

Shouts of “Jiayou!” to all Jewel Changi’s staff
