Grab Rider: “Thank you to Coffee Bean staff and customer who showed kindness”

Posted on October 1, 2021October 1, 2021 by T Natasha

I’ve always liked Coffee Bean. And today, I found one more reason to love them! 🙂

According to a Facebook post shared last week, a kind Coffee Bean employee had allegedly treated a Grab rider to a drink when he returned to get a replacement drink for the one that he had dropped on his delivery. That post has since garnered 1.2k shares… Everyone loves a feel-good story!

Apparently the rider was anxious as it’s the first time something like that has happened with his order in the 4 months he has been on the job. Nervously, he went to the customer’s place and explained what had happened, offering to buy the same for her if she can wait or, she can contact Grab for a refund. Sensing the anxiety of the rider, the understanding customer replied, “It is OK, Uncle.” She then shared that she will be OK to wait for a replacement!

“It’s OK, Uncle.”

The rider quickly returned to the Lot 1’s Coffee Bean outlet, and explained the situation to the sympathetic employee who immediately worked on the replacement drink. Minutes later, she got back to the rider with not one, but two drinks!

To his surprise, she said “Uncle, one is for the customer and the other one is for you.”

What a lovely gesture! The Grab rider was really grateful to her kindness, and thanked her. When he returned with the drink, the customer also thanked and reassured him, saying that it was “no issue”.

This heartwarming sharing really warms the cockles of our heart! On a more serious note, our delivery riders have it tough on the road day in, day out making a living… The relentlessly hot / stormy weather, unreasonable customers and bad traffic conditions are just some of the difficulties they face! The welfare of delivery riders was among the issues raised by PM Lee recently. Delivery heroes lack basic job protection that most employees like you and me have, such as workplace injury compensation, union representation and employers’ contribution to the workers’ Central Provident Fund (CPF). While the Government and associations are working to improve their lots, we can all do our part to make their job an easier one! A little kindness, understanding and patience will go a long way 😊

Oh yes, if you want to show some support for Coffee Bean, it’s 50% off all lattes day!
